Prior to attending the workshop, I had ZERO intention of photographing newborns. NOPE. Not for me. Don't hand me your baby that sounds stressful. But after seeing how easy Christine made the whole process look, I'm feeling confidence in an area I had no interest in. I guess watching many years of photography experience at work will do that to you lol.
This workshop has taught me more in 3 days than I ever expected I could learn or retain in any 3 day class 😅
Prior to this, I only really knew how to press the button on my camera to take a picture and that was about it. (Embarrassing I know, especially considering this was an intense workshop ran by pros and I barely knew how to focus my camera 🫣)
With that being said, this wasn’t a beginners class & I knew that when I signed up.
But, EVERYONE in it took the time to help me in all different areas. Talk about “girls, girls”
That snobby world of photography has no place at Dove Studio 🫶🏻
I learned about white balance (what that actually means & how to do it 😅), ISO, proper editing apps, LIGHTING, & SOOOO much more.
My views on my photography page went up 86%.
That’s insanity, 86%!!!!!!!! From a 3 day class, because I have improved THAT much.
Not only has it changed my game and I actually know what I’m doing now, I have a community of ladies behind me, & I will forever love & cherish these bonds I have formed.
As I’m improving, I’m really thinking of expanding into the newborn photography territory in a few months.
(Not quite yet as I really need to get the hang of my camera, settings, lighting etc but I have the knowledge to move forward with that, I just want to make sure my camera skills are up to par before I put another person's life in my hands!)
With that being said, newborn photography was always something I was amazed by, but I NEVER thought that I would be able to produce the images that I have.
It sounds dramatic to say this was a life changing experience for me, but it really was and I’m so glad I did it & grateful for the opportunity & this community.
I met Christine through a group on Facebook. She responded to a question I posted regarding studio lighting. She was so kind and willing to help.
After seeing her page, I was blown away. Her portraits are truly amazing and I began to follow her work. Studio lighting was completely new to me as I had never used it before. I had so much to learn and Christine joked saying she would have to start charging me with all my questions. My response was OK. How much?
I asked her if she ever considered offering a workshop and the rest was history. She made it happen.
There is no doubt she has a love for her clients and the passion to help new photographers grow.
As the workshop approached I became nervous. When Christine picked me up from the airport it was like seeing a lifelong friend.
The workshop was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. WOW! It was three days of knowledge, fun, and making new friends who will forever cheer each other on. This workshop was the BEST decision I made for my growth in newborn photography.
Since the workshop I have improved my wrapping skills, posing, started to learn photoshop, and have bought studio lighting. I am so excited to continue to learn and be able to offer my clients the best experience.
I will forever be thankful to Christine for her kindness and opening her studio/home to us.
