When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?
The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first 6–14 days after birth. During this window, babies are sleepier and more flexible, which allows for those cozy, curled-up poses.
When should I book my session?
It is most ideal to book in your second or early third trimester. We’ll pencil in your due date, and once baby arrives, we’ll finalize your session date.
How long does a session typically take?
Newborn sessions can typically last between 2–3 hours depending on how many setups we need to do. This allows plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a variety of poses and setups.
Do I need to bring anything?
All we ask is for a sleepy and full baby! Please bring an extra supply of food to keep the baby satisfied throughout the session. I provide all wraps, props, outfits, and accessories. If you have something sentimental you’d like to include, feel free to bring it! We can incorporate it thoughtfully.
What if my baby doesn’t sleep or is fussy?
Don’t worry, this is very normal! I have lots of experience and techniques to help soothe your baby. The session is always baby-led, with breaks for feeding and cuddles as needed.
How should I prepare for the session?
Upon booking, you will receive a detailed prep guide before your session with preparation and what to expect. A well-fed, warm baby makes for the best sleepy portraits!
Can family be included in newborn photos?
Yes, family photos are included. Typically, we do family photos during the review session to prevent the baby from being overwhelmed as newborn sessions alone take a few hours.
